3-DAY TOUR FROM MARRAKECH TO FES AND DESERT

Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi N’tichka Pass – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

3 days tour from marrakech to fes, we get an early start at 7.30am (07:30) and drive from Marrakech to Ouarzazate via the High Atlas Mountains and the breathtaking Tizi-n Titchka pass. We’ll stop along the way to take in the superb views, Berber villages, photo opportunities and cool air.

After lunch at a local Tichka restaurant we drive on to Ait Ben Haddou, the UNESCO world heritage 17th Century earthen clay fortress and Kasbah. You can discover this amazing structure at your own pace, and picture yourself as a character in many of the movies shot on location here (Gladiator, Game of Thrones, The Mummy etc), stroll the laneways and passages, buy unique silver-work, camel hair carpets, henna paintings, or sit on a sunny terrace with the obligatory mint tea. In the afternoon we transfer you to your night’s accommodations in Ouarzazate, the “door to the desert”.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga.

After breakfast we leave Ouarzazate at 9am (09:00) we head for Merzouga. Our route takes us via the Roses and Dades valleys to Qalaat M’Gouna the city known for its annual Festival of Roses in May. Here you can sample rose products and meet the makers. Then we drive through the spectacular Tineghir and Todra Gorges where we will learn of the local history, culture and traditions, before lunch at a local restaurant. On arrival in Merzouga, you transfer your luggage to your Riad room and pack a small overnight backpack, then boarding your designated camel, trek approximately 45minutes over the golden sand dunes to your desert camp for the night. Have dinner under the stars, drumming around the campfire, and drift off to sleep in a Berber tent.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Azrou – Fes.

Good Morning Sunshine! Return by camel to your Merzouga Desert Riad for a hot shower and sunrise breakfast. The tour continues from 8.30am (08:30) passing through Rissani, Zawiya Moulay Ali Ash-Sharif, the dramatic Ziz valley, Dam el Hassan Al-Awal, and lunch in Midelt. We continue through the middle Atlas Mountains, through Atlas Cedar forest to watch the Barbary Macaques, over to Ifrane ‘Switzerland in Morocco’, then on to Azrou where you can meet local Berbers and have tea in their cave house!

Finally, we drive on to Fes and transfer you to your accommodations. This marks the end of the tour.
